- What are 'tight mandrel' labels? Tight mandrel labels are specially designed to adhere tightly to cylindrical containers that have a small diameter. They require an extra-strength adhesive and thinner material in order to stay adhered without peeling or flagging. These tight mandrel labels are engineered to maintain a strong bond when wrapped around cylindrical objects with a small diameter, preventing peeling or wrinkling, and continuing to stick for the life of the container.
- Why are tight mandrel labels specially engineered? Cylindrical containers with a small diameter, like lip balm tubes, eyedropper bottles, pre-roll tubes, vials, etc, are called 'tight mandrel'. They are a special challenge because it's hard for a label to bend around a tight curve and stay stuck. If they are not made of the right material and the right adhesive, the label wants to go back to its original 'flat' shape. We use an ultra-strong adhesive and a thin substrate for small diameter labels, which makes it easy for the label to adapt to the curve, and stay adhered for the life of the product.
